Digital Proofs and Samples for Custom Clothing

Discuss your clothing order

A digital proof and a physical sample answer different questions. A proof helps you review the proposed design arrangement before production. A sample lets you examine a particular garment and decoration in person. Choose the review that answers the uncertainty in your order, with enough time for the full approval sequence.

Tell us at the inquiry stage if you need to assess fabric feel, a new fit or the appearance of a new print. Sample availability, configuration, cost and delivery need to be confirmed for the proposed garment and destination. A sample should not be assumed to be free or included in a group quote.

What to check on a digital proof

  • The garment: correct style, color and front or back view.
  • The words: spelling, dates, names, numbers and any different versions.
  • The artwork: correct file version, orientation and included elements.
  • The layout: print positions, intended width and relationship to seams, pockets or zips.
  • The order: each garment or design variation covered by the approval.

Ask how the layout will be handled across the size range if your order mixes small and large garments. A proof on one reference size should not leave you guessing about the other sizes. Keep the approved file and the associated garment list together.

What a screen cannot show you

A screen does not reproduce fabric feel or the texture of a printed surface. Display settings and garment materials can also affect how colors appear. Use the proof to approve the arrangement shown, and raise any essential color requirement before treating that image as the final reference.

If the distinction between a softer print and a more opaque surface is important to a clothing range, discuss the proposed print method. The selected garment and actual print coverage matter as well as the name of the technique.

Make a sample request specific

Say what you want to learn from the sample. A fit check calls for the right garment and useful reference size. A print check calls for the intended artwork, material, garment color and placement. Changing several of those details between the sample and the final order changes what the review can establish.

Record the sample specification and your observations. For a fit review, compare measurements and the way the garment sits on the intended wearer. For decoration, examine the design scale, edges and placement. If you plan a care trial, follow the supplied garment and print instructions and record the method used.

Allow time for review before the main order

A physical sample can require production, delivery, your assessment and approval before the main order begins its own production and delivery. An event deadline needs to accommodate that sequence. Share the date before choosing a sample route so we can check whether it is workable.

For a time-sensitive order, discuss a digital-proof route and the decisions it can support. That is a choice about the review process, not a guarantee that a particular deadline can be met. Keep the delivery planning questions with your brief.

Return one clear approval

For group orders, appoint one approval contact and gather comments before replying. State which proof version is approved or list the changes needed. If the artwork, garment or quantities change afterwards, ask for the revised details to be checked before production proceeds.

Ask about a proof or sample with the garment examples, artwork, quantity, destination and event date. Our ordering guide shows how that review fits into the complete inquiry-to-order process.
